News Young Carers Action Day 2022 March 16th is national Young Carers Action Day! This is an annual event, organised each year by Carers Trust. It’s a day for raising public awareness of young carers and young adult carers, the pressures and challenges they face, and the incredible contribution they make by caring for their family members and friends. It is also a day to call for more action to support young and young adult carers and give them the extra bit of help they need to live full and healthy lives. This year, Carers Trust Tyne and Wear will be commemorating the date in a big way! We’d like to invite all young carers and their families in the Gateshead area to come and join us in an awareness raising walk along the riverside from Blaydon to Central Gateshead on Saturday 19th March. We've already received some amazing support! Johnsons Workwear have donated branded hoodies and Carers Trust have provided a grant for t-shirts and leaflet printing through their partnership with Pears Foundation. We chose to organise a walk as it was the perfect way to get young carers doing an outdoor activity, combined with awareness raising by young carers who will be wearing Carers Trust Tyne and Wear t-shirts. Carol Watson, Young Carer Service Lead. At the end of the walk, we’ll get together at Gateshead College for refreshments. While we’re there, young carers will be asked to put forward their ideas for the services that they would like to see for them in the future. This is the perfect opportunity to tell us about what support is missing in Gateshead. Your feedback and ideas will then be used in the development of a new Young Carers Strategy by Gateshead Council. Together, we CAN make a difference. Manage Cookie Preferences
