News Big Thank You to Emily!!! This year saw the welcome return of the Great North Run. The event celebrated its 40th anniversary and was as busy as ever, though with a slightly adapted route. The GNR is one of most popular half marathon's in the UK and a hugely important event in the fundraising calendar, generating up to £25 million for charities each year. Having originally purchased places for the cancelled 2020 GNR, we were hoping that someone would take up the challenge for us this year. We were extremely pleased when Emily Mason of local partner NTE Limited offered to take part in the run on our behalf. I decided to run for Carers Trust Tyne and Wear as the past year especially has highlighted how crucial carers are to so many people’s wellbeing. The work these unpaid carers do is life-changing for both parties and their selflessness needs to be recognised and rewarded. Emily trained hard over the summer, running 5km each morning before work. It obviously paid off as she finished the run in a very respectable 2 hours 27 minutes. With support from NTE Limited, Emily raised a very welcome £647! The toughest two and a half hours of my life but the atmosphere and encouragement from other runners and the (smaller, socially-distanced) crowds kept me going. An amazing experience which I can't wait to do all again next year!
