News A Banner of Hope for Young Carers Young carers often feel isolated. As lockdown began this year, for many young carers this problem was made harder. This year, the contact that young carers usually have with friends and extended family suddenly ceased, while caring responsibilities often increased. A big part of our service is enabling young carers to connect with others. Traditionally, this has been through social activities and our different programmes. Sadly, this has been impossible since Covid-19 began to affect our lives. In these difficult times, when isolation is a growing problem for everyone, we wanted to show that we can still connect in some way. Over Summer, Karen from the Young Carer Service sent out all sorts of triangle, flower and star shaped cards to our younger carers. She hoped that they would join us in decorating them and help us to create a Banner of Hope that we hang in our centre. We've received some fabulous artwork and messages from our young carers. Colleagues in our adult Care Service have been joining all the messages together during their days in the office. Karen says, "As the banner grows, we hope it will reach the length of the building and, one day, we can have visitors to see it. Let's keep hoping!!" Manage Cookie Preferences
